Chriss's Story
Life
I have been migrating north since leaving Vallejo at the end of the school year in 9th grade.
I had however gone to Vallejo schools all my life until then, went to church and was involved in brownies (Mrs. Sanduskies troop 2) and scouts. Since I attended Pennycook until 5th grade, and then due to desegragation, the school district was shuffled and I spent 6th grade in Mr. Heinzmans class at Steffan Manor. I knew alot of people. If you remember me at all, I was the one joined at the hip with Leslie Hockin throughout JH.
First stop the coast of Washington State, Aberdeen to be exact. We lived in the Country, farms, cows and all. What a difference from the big city. The school I actually graduated from had only 200 children, from k-12th grades. My graduating class was 14 strong, LOL! At Wishkah I was able to have every thing I had ever wanted from high school. I finally got to become a cheerleader, which I loved, and I worked on the staff of both the school paper and year book. My junior year I was voted sports queen. My high school years there were a dream come true. I had great friends too. And there I met, then married my highschool sweetheart, David, and we have now been married for 32 years. We stayed and raised children in that little country community for many years. It was like a place out of time.

gging industry, the advent of the spotted owl and other tree hugging-enviromentalists issues forced us out of the logging business and further north, to Alaska, to be precise. Kenai is in what is called the "banana belt" of Alaska, with nice and long summers and only the occassional really rough winter. The weather is actually worse in North Dakota and that area than it is here. The world famous Kenai river is here, and the summers are filled with outdoor activities and lots of big celebrities, who come here for the salmon and the Halibit.
My two children, Deanna, and son, Derek are also here. I have a grandson, Jared, who is 7. And in Dec. 2003, our granddaughter, Delaney was born. Being a grandmother is one of the best things in my life.
In 1995, my mother and I opened a gift shop called Scent'Sations', selling (yes, scents, scented stuff and lots of other gifty things)We also manufacture a line of high quality hand made bath and toiletry products. As soon as I can figure out how to do a web page we have the domain name [alaskascentsations]. But that could take another life time at the rate I am going, LOL! I work 4 days a week most of the time so I dont get to burned out.
I have had a good and blessed life. I sometimes do wonder, how things would have gone for me, had I remained in Vallejo. But I believe I am where God wants me to be ;-D.
